Join us for an immersive opening celebration of Cruise LA’s 10th anniversary, where the exhibition and living culture merge. Through photographs, ephemera, and installation, the exhibit traces how Cruise LA has become a catalyst for reshaping the Los Angeles leather/kink community by creating space for the people who disrupt the leather archetype. Historically unwelcoming to many racialized and gender-expansive people, the local leather community continues to be transformed by those insisting on new ways of belonging.
For one night, Cruise LA’s monthly party spills into the Human Resources gallery in Chinatown. Revel in the pleasures of queer liberation and embodied connection with our resident DJ, gogo dancers, BDSM demonstrations, and artist activations (featuring: Anansi, Page Person, Mowgli Wilde, Strange Kindness, & Mary Typhus) that blur the line between exhibition and celebration. Wander through a decade of Cruise LA’s intimate history, then get embodied in our recreation of a leather bar darkroom, where you’re invited to explore your own desires with friends—or some beloved strangers.
Leave with a deeper sense of the radical possibilities of pleasure, embodiment, and chosen community. By journeying through the exhibit and into the party, guests are invited to imagine what becomes possible when we trust our bodies, make space for one another’s desires, and practice joy together, even amid uncertainty.
Cruise LA: 10 Years Deep Exhibit Opening Party is organized by Cruise LA as part of the 2026 Circa: Queer Histories Festival, presented by One Institute.
Cruise LA facilitates intersectional leather/kink spaces by centering historically disenfranchised communities in arts-based programming and cultural events. Using fun and joy, Cruise LA connects its patrons with resources for harm reduction, safer play, education, and community building. Through the lens of radical self-acceptance and interdependence, Cruise LA creates a space that is not only courageous but celebratory of diversity.
Since 2016, Cruise LA has been producing the only monthly party at Eagle LA that exclusively centers women and TGI people. In 2019, Cruise LA premiered the first Mx. leather title in Los Angeles and continues to carve out space for marginalized communities in Leather. By recognizing those who came before us and fought to create the foundations of our community, we honor their legacy by continuing to create art, events, and spaces that champion systemically excluded bodies.
Human Resources was founded in 2010 by a team of creative individuals who seek to broaden engagement with contemporary and conceptual art, with an emphasis on performative and underexposed modes of expression. Human Resources is not-for-profit and seeks to foster widespread public appreciation of the performative arts by encouraging maximum community access. Human Resources also serves as a point of convergence for diverse and disparate art communities to engage in conversation and idea-sharing promoting the sustainability of non-traditional art forms.
