Independent filmmakers Ryan A. White and A.P Pickle (a.k.a. Wohler Films) have spent more than a decade exploring erotic archives as a means of documenting and preserving LGBTQIA+ histories in rural California. From forgotten cruising sites and homemade fetish porn to recovering lost films and navigating dual identities, their documentaries demonstrate the vital role pornography plays in the archive and uncover idiosyncratic narratives of California’s unique gay history. Their latest film Mickey & Richard (2026), which received Honorable Mention for Best Documentary Feature at Frameline50, will have its Los Angeles Premiere in this program alongside celebrated earlier works Raw! Uncut! Video! (2021), Big Sur Gay Porn (2023), and Cruising Elsewhere (2016). These adults-only documentaries will be screened together for the first time allowing audiences to experience an expanded vision of the larger Wohler Films project and make connections between often-overlooked elements of California’s queer historical tapestry.
The films will be presented in a double feature format, including an intermission and post-screening talkback with the filmmakers in conversation with Amos Mac – writer, artist, and founder of Original Plumbing.

Ryan A. White (artist/filmmaker)
Ryan A. White is a documentary filmmaker from Big Sur, California. His films include Mickey & Richard (2026), Big Sur Gay Porn (2023), Raw! Uncut! Video! (2021), Cruising Elsewhere (2016), and Mondo Banana (2013). Other credits include co-directing Dirt McComber: Last of the Mohicans (2018), producing The Organic Life (2013) and associate producing Pray Away (2020) and Out Run (2016). He’s also a Lecturer in Film Production and Cinema Studies.
A.P . Pickle (artist/filmmaker)
A.P . Pickle is an artist based in Santa Rosa, California. His film credits include Mickey & Richard (2026), Big Sur Gay Porn (2023), Raw! Uncut! Video! (2021), and Cruising Elsewhere (2016).
Robert T. Barrett (event producer)
Robert T. Barrett teaches at University of California, Santa Cruz, and has previously taught at University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Irvine. In addition to working on the production team of all the Wohler Films projects, he has a decade of experience programming, producing, and promoting academic events. Robert aims to bring diverse LGBTQIA+ events to broader audiences and forge new relationships with wider queer communities across California.
Amos Mac (facilitator)
Amos Mac is a writer, director and visual artist whose work explores the delights, emotional landmines, and mundane realities of trans visibility. He has written and produced for television, including Gossip Girl, Clean Slate, and Gaycation, and co-wrote the feature documentary No Ordinary Man. In 2009, he co-founded Original Plumbing, the first widely distributed print magazine dedicated to trans male culture, which he published for a decade.
