Between Revolutions is a collection of readings by local queer and trans writers, artists, and performers who engage with LGBTQ pasts and imagine radical futures.

Grounding the series of readings conceptually are the utopian imaginaries of The Faggots and Their Friends Between Revolutions, Larry Mitchell’s 1977 queer manifesto and fable, a call for solidarity and action among queer, femme, and gender-nonconforming people. The readings will begin with a relevant brief excerpt from the text read by the program’s curators TyrONE Hanley and Alexander Schneider.

After this introduction, the program’s chosen participants will be invited to perform 5–10 brief readings or performances of their own or historical queer works (to be chosen and finalized with the program curators ahead of time) that engage with queer and LGBTQ histories, political struggle, and future-facing visions that inspire a way forward for today’s queer and trans people.

After the readings and a brief discussion, a social event hosted by Giovanni’s Room gallery including music and art will allow for participants and audience members to engage with each other and the works read and performed during the course of the program.

Participant Bios

TyrONE Hanley is an organizer residing in Los Angeles, where he enjoys making erotic art and zines. His first film, Home Sweet Home, explores the impact of unaffordable housing on Washington, DC’s LGBTQ community.

Alexander Schneider is a Los Angeles–based writer, editor, and arts worker. He is the creator of the project Homocommunist, an archive of radical queer histories and present-day liberatory struggles.

Between Revolutions is organized by TyrONE Hanley as part of the 2026 Circa: Queer Histories Festival, presented by One Institute.
